ABUJA – The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) on Monday announced that no fewer than 4,445,505 Nigerians have so far registered online in the ongoing Continuous Voter Registration (CVR), with women and youths leading the process nationwide.

National Commissioner and Chairman of the Information and Voter Education Committee, Sam Olumekun, disclosed this in a statement, explaining that 509,929 people had completed both online pre-registration and in-person verification.

According to the figures released by INEC, as of September 14, 2025, women accounted for 51.83 percent of online registrations, compared to 48.17 percent by men. Youths between the ages of 18 and 34 dominated the exercise with 65.79 percent, while students represented 25.02 percent.

For completed registrations, youths also maintained the lead with 74.15 percent, while students made up 38.54 percent of those who had finished the process.

Olumekun said registration in Anambra State remains suspended until after the November 11 governorship election, while online pre-registration in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) has been paused to pave the way for ward-level registration ahead of the February 2026 Area Council elections.

He explained that the online voter pre-registration in the FCT officially ended on Monday, September 15, 2025. “For the next two weeks, the physical option will be at designated venues. Thereafter, the Commission will devolve the registration to all the 62 wards in the FCT from 29th September to 8th October 2025. Detailed addresses of the centres have already been uploaded to our official platforms,” Olumekun stated.

He added that INEC has also published a detailed breakdown of registrations by state, gender, age, occupation, and disability status on its official platforms for public access.

The CVR exercise, he stressed, is a key part of the Commission’s preparations ahead of the 2027 general elections.
