BENIN CITY – Staff of the University of Benin Teaching Hospital (UBTH) have commended the leadership of the Chief Medical Director, Prof. Idia Ize-Iyamu, as she marked her first 120 days in office, reaffirming her commitment to a conducive work environment and strengthened professionalism.

The CMD thanked staff for their dedication to service and care for humanity, noting that the hospital’s effectiveness depends largely on the commitment and professionalism of its workforce.

She urged employees to uphold the highest ethical and professional standards in the discharge of their duties, stressing that professionalism remains central to delivering quality healthcare.

Highlighting key achievements under her administration, Prof. Ize-Iyamu cited the installation of a state-of-the-art 160-slice CT scan machine, alongside other infrastructural and service delivery upgrades aimed at improving patient care.

According to her, the administration has prioritised inclusion, accountability and a renewed sense of institutional direction across the hospital.

“As we move into 2026, every head of department, unit and section must develop actionable plans and timelines aligned with the UBTH-CARES agenda,” she said.

She explained that the plans must be practical, measurable and consistent with the hospital’s broader vision to ensure steady progress across all units.

Calling for sustained collaboration and commitment, the CMD said the hospital was at a defining moment, with opportunities to consolidate the gains already recorded.

“The vision is clear, the challenges are real, but the possibilities are greater. Let us move forward together with unity, professionalism and renewed trust,” she said.

Prof. Ize-Iyamu reiterated her resolve to reposition UBTH as a citadel of excellence driven by professional competence and accountability, in line with her strategic agenda tagged UBTH-CARES.
