ABUJA — The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has removed the National Working Committee (NWC) of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) led by Senator David Mark from its official portal, as it moves to maintain the status quo in the protracted leadership crisis within the party.

The electoral umpire said its decision was taken pending the determination of a substantive suit before the Federal High Court in Abuja.

In a document titled “INEC’s Observations and Resolution of the Commission,” signed by Mohammed Kudu Haruna, National Commissioner and Chairman of the Information and Voter Education Committee, and released via the Commission’s official X handle, INEC explained that the action followed a careful review of the judgment of the Court of Appeal in Appeal No. CA/ABJ/145/2026, as well as processes already filed by parties in Suit No. FHC/ABJ/CS/1819/2025.

The Commission traced the root of the dispute to the emergence of the party’s current NWC, which followed the National Executive Council (NEC) meeting held on July 29, 2025, where the appointment of the David Mark-led leadership was ratified.

INEC noted that, given the conflicting claims and ongoing legal contest, it would refrain from recognising any faction until the court delivers a final verdict on the matter.

The development marks a significant escalation in the ADC’s internal crisis, raising fresh concerns over the party’s leadership structure and its readiness for future electoral engagements.
