Nigeria’s senior women’s volleyball team finished their 2026 African Women’s Volleyball Championship campaign on a winning note with a commanding 3-0 victory over Mali in Nairobi, Kenya.
The Nigerian women dominated the classification match for ninth and 10th positions, securing a straight-sets win on Wednesday, September 2.
Nigeria had to work for the opening set but eventually prevailed 25-23 before taking control of the contest in the second set, winning 25-19.
The West Africans completed the victory in emphatic fashion, cruising to a 25-14 win in the third set to seal a 3-0 triumph.

The victory means Nigeria finish ninth at the 2026 CAVB Women’s African Nations Volleyball Championship, while Mali end the tournament in 10th position.
The result gives Nigeria a strong finish to their continental campaign after competing against some of Africa’s leading volleyball nations at the championship.
The 2026 CAVB Women’s African Nations Volleyball Championship is being staged in Nairobi, Kenya, from August 23 to September 5.
Nigeria’s final classification victory also underlines the team’s ability to finish the competition strongly, as they recorded a convincing straight-sets success against Mali.
