A 42-year-old married man, Oji Okoro, has been arrested by operatives of the Edo State Police Command for allegedly defiling a 12-year-old boy.

Oji Okoro was among 15 suspects paraded before journalists by the Command’s spokesperson, ASP Eno Ikoedem, during the maiden press briefing of the Commissioner of Police, CP Patrick Daaor, in Benin City on Tuesday, August 18, 2026.

The suspects were arrested for various offences, including alleged kidnapping, vandalism, staged kidnapping and unlawful possession of firearms.

Parading Okoro, the police spokesperson said the suspect committed an unnatural offence against the boy.

“This man, Oji Okoro, committed an unnatural offence; he defiled a 12-year-old boy. He is a married man,” she said.

Oji Okoro, who admitted to the offence, said the incident was his first such act, claiming that the boy reported him to his employer, leading to his arrest.

“That was the first time. The boy reported me to his oga, then the police arrested me. It was the devil,” he said.

The Commissioner of Police, CP Patrick Daaor, commended the operatives for their commitment and dedication to duty, assuring that under his watch, Edo State would remain a hostile territory for criminals and their collaborators.
