In the town of Uromi, the administrative headquarters of Esan North East, a middle-aged man named Mr. Joseph Ugiagbe has reportedly been tragically killed by unidentified gunmen.
According to sources in Uromi, this horrific incident, which occurred in March 2014, is believed to be connected to Mr. Joseph’s courageous role in rescuing Roland Kelly, the first son of the late Okosun B. Roland. Roland Kelly was targeted by his siblings and stepmother due to an ongoing dispute over the family’s inheritance.
Late Okosun Roland, who passed away on November 1st, 2013, was married to Mrs. P. Patris Okosun, the mother of Roland Kelly and the eldest child of her late husband. Okosun Roland had a second wife, and his first wife had passed away on January 1st, 2000.
While Okosun Roland was alive in Uromi, Mrs. Joy Okosun gave birth to seven children.
Trouble started brewing for Roland Kelly, who, by right, was entitled to inherit his late father’s accomplishments and wealth. However, his siblings and their mother, Mrs. Joy Okosun, strongly opposed the idea of relinquishing what the entire family had labored for over the years to Roland Kelly.
As the dispute intensified, Roland Kelly faced numerous death threats and survived multiple attempts on his life. On December 20th, 2013, he was brutally attacked and beaten in his Uromi community. Fortunately, the timely intervention of passers-by enabled him to be rushed to a nearby hospital, where he received immediate medical attention.
In light of the continuous death threats against Roland Kelly from his siblings and stepmother, his late father’s close friend, Mr. Joseph, took him away from the community to protect him from his assailants.
However, just three months after Roland Kelly found refuge with Mr. Joseph, in March 2014, an alarming turn of events unfolded. Unknown gunmen launched a vicious attack, allegedly resulting in the cold-blooded murder of Mr. Joseph Ugiagbe. Left with no choice, Roland Kelly had to flee the entire community for his safety.
Reports from the community indicate that the body of Mr. Joseph Ugiagbe was taken to the local mortuary pending the autopsy report. The police have initiated an investigation and are currently tracking Roland Kelly, as it is believed that he sought refuge with the now-deceased Mr. Joseph Ugiagbe until his own unfortunate death in March 2014.
