Pandemonium erupted in Urhonigbe community in Orthionwon Local Government Area on July 28th 2013 when an aged man, 69-years of age tragically died while in company of his 22-years of age wife under controversial circumstances.
An eyewitness account who pleaded anonymity said that on July 28th 2013, in the neighborhood, a loud noise emanated from an apartment closed to his own, with a woman screeming for help .
As neighbours made frantic efforts to save the middle-aged man after rushing to his apartment, his wife was said to have immediately disappeared from the apartnent as she was seen dashing out in apprehension and was nowhere to be seen thereafter upon enquiry .
Speaking further, the eyewitness said neighbors had to rush to the scene where an aged man of 69-years of age was seen lying on the floor as he was immediately rushed to the hospital where he was later confirmed dead.
Also it was gathered that the aged man and his woman severals before had been involved in an altercation arising from a serious argument before his sudden tragic end.
Ifeanyi Mercy, according to information made available, had been living acrimoniously in a toxic relationship with the 69-years old man after her step mother wilfully gave her out in marriage against her will.
It was said that Ifeanyi Mercy lived with the man for a year and three months until his tragic end on July 28th 2013.
Neighbours in their separate remarks after the tragic death of the 69-years old man identified as Mr.Paul Idemudia recalled instances when the 69-year old and his wife were involved in altercation which degenerated into violence and use of force.
Meanwhile, a statemenet by the Edo State Command of the Nigerian Police made available to journalists in Benin City stated that the Command was currently investigating a case of alleged murder of a 69,-years old who was discovered dead in his apartment in Urhonigbe in Orthionwon local government area of Edo State.
The statement further said that while details surrounding the sudden death of the middle-aged man remain unclear, a 22-years old Ifeanyi Mercy who was said to have been married to the man over 1-year ago, was said to have immediately disappeared from the community following the sudden death of the man .
It added that while frantic efforts are underway to apprehend and arrest the fleeing Ifeanyi Mercy, she has been declared wanted in connection with the murder of the 69-years old man who was said to be her husband.
