The Anioma Youths Council Worldwide (AYCW) has expressed resolute support for Senator Ned Nwoko in his pursuit of the creation of Anioma State. The said endorsement was announced during the AYCW summit which held at De-Kings Hotel, Obinomba, Ukwuani Local Government Area of Delta State.
The summit was attended by numerous youth leaders, highlighted the urgent need for Anioma to have its own state, with Senator Ned Nwoko’s sponsorship of the bill in the Senate receiving unanimous backing from the Anioma youths. The youths emphasized the importance of state creation in fostering greater development and representation for the Anioma people.
AYCW further urged Senator Ned Nwoko to leverage his influence to ensure federal agencies such as the Amnesty Office, Ministry of Niger Delta, Local Content Board, NNPC, and others engage actively with Anioma youths. They stressed the necessity of equitable access to federal programmes for Anioma youths, akin to other ethnic groups.
They expressed deep concern over the activities of Fulani herdsmen in Anioma Nation, aligning with Senator Ned Nwoko’s efforts in the Senate to address these issues. They urged both federal and state governments to take decisive actions to curb these activities.
The council vehemently condemned what they perceive as the abandonment of Anioma in Delta State’s developmental plans. They criticized the state government for prioritizing development in other senatorial districts over Anioma, calling for fair and equitable treatment.
AYCW called upon elected and appointed Anioma officials, including Deputy Governor Chief Monday Onyeme, to deliver on their mandate by ensuring Anioma receives its fair share of democracy dividends.
