Records High Number of Teams for Registration
With about six weeks to the kickoff of the 2024/2025 Federation’s Cup, the Imo State Football Association (Imo FA) is energized and fully committed to organizing a historic and successful competition this season.
In a significant achievement, this year has seen the highest number of participating teams in the history of the Imo FA, with 22 teams registering for the competition.
This year’s competition has been further boosted by various sponsored packages that will support the participating teams. The Imo FA, under the leadership of Barr. Ifeanyi Dike, is enthusiastic about the development and has already initiated comprehensive arrangements to ensure a seamless and fruitful tournament.
In addition to ensuring a level playing field for all teams, the Imo FA has begun informing the state government and other stakeholders about the upcoming Federation Cup, scheduled to begin in January 2024, with a focus on making it a memorable event.
Exciting sponsorship packages are being arranged, and the eventual state representatives will receive strong backing from the state government. The Imo FA has expressed that only teams lacking the competitive spirit or those unwilling to participate in a fair contest may consider relocating to other areas in search of easier opportunities.
The Imo FA has emphasized that it is providing a conducive environment for football to thrive, reflected in the substantial number of registrations for this year’s Federation Cup. Both male and female qualifiers representing the state will receive full support from the Imo FA and the state government.
Speaking at a brief emergency meeting with Board Members at the FA office in Owerri, Barr. Dike urged all football stakeholders to rally behind the Imo FA for the continued development and success of football in the state.
