The Chief Executive Officer of Maxity Frames, Mr. Desmond Bassey, has been commended by the Nigerian Optometric Association (NOA), Edo State Chapter, for his dedication to promoting eye health and empowering the optometric community.
This recognition was conveyed in a letter of appreciation dated March 17, 2025, and signed by Dr. Ogbebor Uwamarin, Chairman of World Sight Day and World Glaucoma Week (2024 and 2025).
The NOA acknowledged Bassey’s unwavering support for eye care advocacy and his significant contributions to global initiatives.
Before this honour, Bassey had also been recognised for his outstanding commitment to the Women Optometrists in Nigeria, Edo State Chapter, in advancing eye care advocacy.
The NOA’s letter stated: “On behalf of the Nigerian Optometric Association (NOA), Edo State Chapter, we extend our sincere appreciation to you and the entire Maxity Frames team for your continued support of our advocacy programmes. Your generosity has made a meaningful impact on global initiatives such as World Sight Day, World Optometry Day, and World Glaucoma Week. Your commitment has helped us raise awareness and improve lives.”
In response, Bassey expressed gratitude for the recognition, describing it as a testament to the collective efforts aimed at advancing eye care advocacy and expanding access to quality eye health services.
“As part of our mission, we are driving the AutoVision Initiative in partnership with SMOF, which will provide free smart AI driving glasses and eye screenings for car buyers in Edo State,” Bassey stated.
Encouraging continued dedication within the eye care sector, he emphasised that their work extends beyond vision correction to enhancing lives, increasing awareness, and developing sustainable solutions for improved eye health.
“Collaboration is essential. When we unite with passion and purpose, we can create lasting change. Every effort contributes to a healthier and more informed society,” he added.
