…as Sister Abigail Escapes
OSOSA – Pandemonium on Sunday pervaded the shanty village of Ososa in Ogun State, following the lynching of two siblings, Funmi Oluwo and Abigal Olayemi Oluwo for allegedly practicing lesbianism in the community.
The incident which occurred at about noon, however led to chaos in the community as Funmi did not survive the torture of the angry mob while Abigail was said to have narrowly escaped from the scene with serious bruises
The youths in their hundreds were said to have thrown caution to the wind when they brutalized the duo as they claimed the two sisters have committed an abomination against their land and capable of bringing plagues to the people in the land.
An eyewitness who refused his name on print told our Correspondent that their
ordeal started when their uncle, an elder in the community caught the late Funmi and Abigail in the act.
According to our source, the duo, Funmi and Abigail had often been engaged in the filthy acts of lesbianism which had often infuriated the elders of the community, who condemned the practice as a taboo and abominable act that portends doom that will impinge deadly plagues on the people.
Their uncle was said to have reported them to the local chiefs and elders in the community which led to their trial by ordeal before torture was meted on them by the youths, where one of them (Funmi) eventually gave up the ghost.
Our source further stated that the intervention of passers-by to rescue the siblings proved abortive, as the youths persisted in manhandling them. It was at this juncture, Abigail managed to escape from the scene.
Meanwhile, Abigail’ s escape has escalated tensions in the community as the leaders and youths have persisted in their hostility, with some of the youths combing all the nearby bushes and farms in search of her.
Investigation by our Correspondent however revealed that the Police Division covering the area had been helpless in bringing the perpetrators to book as some of the key actors of the gory scene have fled the community.
The Police Spokesman, Deji Ajayi told journalists in the area that the Command had spread its dragnet to fish out the hoodlums, even as he said they were yet to know the whereabouts of Abigail Olayemi Oluwo.
However investigation further revealed that the duo were actually involved in the illicit act of lesbianism which was a taboo against Ososa community but the maltreatment was not however enough to engage in jungle justice against the duo.
It would be recalled that as at the time of filing this report, the whereabouts of Abigail is still unknown as speculation of her being alive or dead still hangs on the air.
