Edo State Commissioner for Information and Communication, Hon Paul Ohonbamu, has reaffirmed the commitment of Governor Monday Okpebholo’s administration to deploying state resources responsibly for the benefit of all Edo citizens.

In a statement issued in Benin City, Ohonbamu assured that every project and programme initiated under the present administration would be implemented to completion, with visible and lasting benefits for the people.

He highlighted Project SHINE—Governor Okpebholo’s strategic development plan focusing on Security, Healthcare, Infrastructure, Natural Resources and Food Sufficiency, and Education—as a vehicle through which the administration intends to bring meaningful change to the state.

“This is not a government of empty blueprints. The governor is determined to translate plans into tangible outcomes like the Ramat Park flyover and other major projects across Edo,” he said.

Ohonbamu criticised the previous administration led by Governor Godwin Obaseki for allegedly squandering billions on flood and erosion control without achieving sustainable solutions.

He referenced recent comments by PDP spokesperson Chris Nehikhare, suggesting they amounted to a veiled admission of failure.

“Edo people are asking what happened to the enormous resources allocated for flood mitigation over the last eight years. No enduring solution was provided, yet the PDP expects Governor Okpebholo to fix years of neglect in under seven months,” he stated.

He urged the public to remain patient, asserting that the current administration would prioritise the people’s welfare over political propaganda.

“This is a government that acts, not one that deceives on paper,” he added
