LAGOS – The Lagos State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has taken a swipe at the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), describing it as confused, indecisive, and lacking direction in its handling of the 2027 presidential ticket.
In a statement on Thursday, APC spokesman, Mr. Seye Oladejo, said the PDP’s latest decision to throw its presidential ticket open after previously zoning it to the South exposed the party’s confusion and lack of leadership.
According to him, the “back-and-forth” zoning arrangement shows that the PDP has no clear vision for the country.
“It is also quite telling that the PDP conveniently forgot the provisions of the Nigerian Constitution when it initially zoned out other parts of the country from the presidency, only to hurriedly cave in under pressure from vested interests and desperate aspirants,” Oladejo stated.
He argued that the ruling APC’s growing acceptance and popularity had thrown the opposition into disarray.
“The truth is simple: the larger-than-life image of the ruling APC, under the tested leadership of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, has so overwhelmed the PDP that it no longer knows whether to go left, right, or in circles,” he said.
Oladejo insisted that the PDP’s “open ticket” was not a symbol of inclusiveness but a confession of weakness.
“It exposes a party torn apart by power tussles and a chronic inability to learn from its failures. The PDP has become a political gambling house where every desperate politician is invited to try his luck,” he added.
He recalled how the party bungled its zoning arrangement in 2023, sparking internal crises, defections, and ultimately “disgrace at the polls.”
“Once again, instead of presenting Nigerians with a coherent vision, the PDP has chosen to promote confusion. For the opposition, the 2027 presidential election is already lost, not at the ballot box, but in the circus tent they call their party,” Oladejo said.
He maintained that the APC remained focused on governance, stability, and reforms to secure the nation’s future.
