Stronger thunderstorms with moderate rains are expected over most of the region later in the day.

For Wednesday, the agency predicted thunderstorms with light rains over Kaduna, Bauchi, Gombe, Borno, Adamawa and Taraba in the morning, intensifying in the afternoon and evening across most northern states.
Central states such as Plateau and Nasarawa are also expected to record thunderstorms and rainfall.
In the southern region, light rains are expected over Rivers, Akwa Ibom and Cross River in the morning, followed by thunderstorms and moderate rains later in the day.
NiMet cautioned residents in Bayelsa, Ebonyi, Akwa Ibom and Rivers over possible flash floods and urged states at risk to activate emergency response plans immediately.
The agency also advised farmers to avoid applying fertilizers and pesticides shortly before rainfall to prevent nutrient wash-off, while residents were urged to secure loose objects, drive with caution during rainfall, disconnect electrical appliances, and avoid standing under tall trees during storms.
Airline operators were urged to obtain airport-specific weather reports for safe and effective flight planning.
NiMet advised the public to stay updated by following its official website and channels for timely weather information.
