A 39-years-old Osadolor Omoruyi, a kidnap escapee has gone into hiding following threats from his former captors to eliminate him unless he settles the ransom fee.
Osadolor Omoruyi, a boutique owner in Benin had recently escaped from a den of masked kidnappers who had taken him into a forest on the Benin-Agbor after intercepting the vehicle he was traveling to Onitsha Market, to restock his shop on February 28, 2025.
His escape police sources claim was aided by a hunter who stumbled on Osadolor Omoruyi, bound in both his hands and legs and promptly untied him before the kidnappers who weren’t around at the moment could return.
His present ordeal stems from the threats from the kidnappers who had already established contact with Omoruyi’s pregnant wife in the course of ransom negotiations to eliminate the family unless the N7m Naira ransom demanded is paid.
There was however a twist in the matter as the kidnappers reportedly quoted the business address of Mr Omoruyi, threatening to return to finish him and his family members, thus confirming that the kidnappers knew him very well.
Despite reporting the matter to the police authorities in Benin City who advised him to watch his back alway, Osadolor Omoruyi lived in perpetual fear before relocating elsewhere to save his life.
Incidences of kidnapping for ransom has become a thriving business in Nigeria with even close relatives conspiring to abduct affluent relatives for ransom.
