Moscow – Russian Foreign Minister, Lavrov Sergey, says calls for Iran to fully renounce uranium enrichment contradict the Nuclear Non-Proliferation Treaty (NPT).
He said on Thursday in Moscow that Iran has the right to peaceful nuclear programmes.
Lavrov added that Russia maintains close contact with Iranian authorities and is confident in Tehran’s willingness to resolve the nuclear issue while respecting the NPT.
He also noted that Arab countries are signaling Washington to pursue agreements that preserve Iran’s right to peaceful uranium enrichment.
The second round of indirect nuclear talks between Iran and the United States (U.S.) concluded in Geneva on Tuesday, with further discussions planned.
