ABUJA: The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has promoted 2,339 staff under its 2025 Senior Staff Promotion exercise, signalling a major boost in leadership capacity ahead of future elections.

The announcement was made in Abuja on Tuesday by INEC’s Director of Voter Education and Publicity, Mrs Victoria Eta-Messi, following the commission’s meeting on February 26.

According to Eta-Messi, 45 deputy directors on Grade Level (GL) 16 were elevated to directors on GL 17, with 18 remaining in active service and 27 scheduled for retirement shortly after promotion.

Additionally, 91 assistant directors moved to deputy directors, 82 chief officers advanced to assistant directors, and 2,121 intermediate officers across GL 07–13 were promoted.

“The exercise follows established public service guidelines and reflects INEC’s commitment to merit, dedication, and institutional stability,” she said.

Eta-Messi urged the promoted officers to uphold professionalism and integrity in their duties.
