BENIN CITY: The General Manager of Bendel Newspapers Corporation, publisher of The Nigerian Observer titles, Hon. Peter Odibo, has assured readers that the long-awaited return of the newspaper to the newsstands is imminent.

Odibo gave the assurance when he toured the facilities of the publishing company, alongside a team of engineers to assess the condition of printing machines and determine their readiness for optimal use.

Expressing confidence in the revival process, he called on staff to work closely with management and the Edo State Government to restore the publication’s presence across the state.

He said the newspaper would soon be available in Benin City before extending to other parts of Edo, noting that efforts were underway to reactivate in-house printing operations.

Odibo emphasised his commitment to fostering cooperation, rather than victimisation among workers, urging them to carry out their duties diligently to reposition the organisation within the media landscape.

He disclosed that appeals had been made to the state government to address operational challenges, including manpower shortages, expressing optimism that support would be forthcoming.

The BNCL boss also directed an end to remote working arrangements, insisting that staff must be physically present to contribute effectively.

He stressed the need to fully utilise existing printing equipment instead of outsourcing jobs.

Commending Governor Monday Okpebholo for prioritising workers’ welfare through prompt salary payments, Odibo urged employees to reciprocate with improved productivity and dedication.
