OGAN (ESAN NORTH EAST) – In what looks like a seeming mysterious cast of a spell has bedeviled the people of Ogan Community, Esan North East local Government Area of Edo State, following the incessant death of people in the area.
It was reported that the frequent death in the community was attributable to the untimely death of the village Chief Priest, Nidid, his wife and three children in a ghastly motor accident while driving to his newly converted church.
It was also gathered that the spell had brought an uncountable loss of lives of the indigenes in the community since the Chief Priest renounced his village idolatry belief when he embraced the catholic faith.
According to our source, his Heir Apparent, Nidid Kingsley who was said to have taken over his late father’s position in the shrine refused as such offer was against his Christian belief and would never had wanted to kill any human being as sacrifice to a shrine.
The source added that the community shrine only demands the blood of only person annually to cleanse the land before every planting season.
When our correspondent visited the village, it was like a ghost town as most people in the community were said to have fled while some died mysteriously on the account that Kingsley had refused to step into his late father’s shoes.
However, the crisis in Ogan Community is deeply rooted in Kingsley’s family’s historical role as custodians of the shrine, with ritual practices, a responsibility he could not uphold.
One of the villagers who identified himself as Pullen Odianosen told to our reporter that the community had been in tragedy on how to bring the rightful person ((Kingsley) in that family to perform rituals that will appease the gods in Ogan shrine.
Odianosen revealed that the Onogie of the community further worsened the situation when he ordered that the property of the late chief priest be coverted and set his house ablaze.
He explained further that the situation became unmanageable when the Palace guards shot at the twin younger brother of the Heir Apparent.
According to him, “the Council of Elders at the Onogie’s palace decreed that all sons and daughters of Ogan Community should engage in the manhunt of Nidid Kingsley and bring him live or dead to the village with a handsome reward ”
He further stated that the people in the community had gone out far and wide to spread out their dragnets in order to fish out Kingsley in wherever he is hiding in order to save the community of further calamity.
Investigation by Our Correspondent revealed that the shanty community had overtime resonated in bad calamity, following the neglect of their traditional institution as a result of the western civilization and embrace of Christian belief that had crept into them
As at the time of filing this report, the whereabouts and safety of Nidid Kingsley cannot be ascertained as it could have run away for safety.
