The Nigeria Football Federation (NFF)’s Refereeing Development Committee has suspended referee Yakubu Adamu indefinitely from all league and football-related activities following his performance in the Nigeria Premier Football League clash between Rangers and Bendel Insurance.
According to the committee, the sanction takes immediate effect against the referee for awarding undeserved penalty against Bendel Insurance FC in favour of Rangers International of Enugu during the NPFL match day 37 which was deemed inconsistent with the provisions of the Laws of the Game.
The controversial decision led to a goal and was said to have significantly influenced the outcome of the encounter which ended 2-1 against the visiting Bendel Insurance FC.
The committee further stated that the referee’s action brought the game into disrepute, prompting the disciplinary measure against the match official.
The NFF reiterated its commitment to maintaining professionalism, fairness and integrity in football officiating across the country.Soccer.
