BENIN CITY — Governor Monday Okpebholo will on Saturday officially bid farewell to Edo State intending pilgrims ahead of their departure to the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia for the 2026 Hajj exercise.
The farewell ceremony, organised by the Edo State Muslim Pilgrims Welfare Board (EMPWB), is scheduled to hold by 10:00 a.m. at the Board’s premises located at 2/3 Ugomosun Street, off Dumez Road, Sapele Road, Benin City.
In a statement issued by the Executive Secretary of the Board, Alhaji Eranga Muhammadkabir Abdulkabir, members of the Muslim community were invited to attend the event, which is expected to draw government officials, Islamic clerics, family members and other well-wishers.
According to the statement, all intending pilgrims are expected to be seated by 9:00 a.m. and must appear in their official Hajj uniforms for the ceremony.
The event will feature prayers, spiritual guidance and goodwill messages for the pilgrims before their journey to the holy land.
The Board appreciated members of the Muslim community for their support and urged invited guests to attend promptly.
