BENIN CITY — To ensure continuity and the completion of key development projects across Edo State, Deputy Governor Hon. Dennis Idahosa has called for stronger synergy and collaboration with the business community.

Idahosa made the call on Tuesday during a courtesy and thank-you visit by members of the New Building Materials Sellers Association (Edo State Chapter) to his office. During the meeting, he urged the association’s members to come out en masse and support the All Progressives Congress (APC) candidate, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, in the upcoming January 16, 2027 national election.

Receiving an award plaque naming him the “Best Deputy Governor in Nigeria” from the association’s president, Osahon Iguodala Gabriel, at the Deputy Governor’s Office Conference Room, Idahosa expressed deep appreciation for the recognition. He noted that the honor—bestowed for his unflinching integrity and loyalty to the governor—would not have been possible without the support and leadership of Governor Monday Okpebholo.

Idahosa commended the traders for acknowledging the state government’s efforts in improving the business climate. He emphasized that enhanced security measures introduced by the Okpebholo administration have significantly boosted customer turnout and market patronage.

“From the very first day Governor Monday Okpebholo was sworn in on November 12, 2024, he came prepared for the job,” Idahosa stated. “He has consistently delivered results. Your businesses can thrive today because he tackled insecurity head-on. Edo is now safe for enterprise, and we are actively addressing the infrastructure deficits we inherited. As of today, Edo is shining.”

He reiterated that the administration remains committed to people-oriented policies. Highlighting key achievements, Idahosa noted that the burden of multiple taxation has been dismantled in favor of a streamlined central tax system, creating a more conducive environment for entrepreneurs. He added that the Edo State Government remains ready to partner with reputable organizations to fast-track regional development in line with President Tinubu’s vision for Nigeria.

Speaking during the presentation, Osahon Iguodala Gabriel affirmed the association’s commitment to supporting Governor Okpebholo’s mandate and the re-election bid of President Tinubu.

Gabriel revealed that the group is already mobilizing grassroots awareness and support. As part of these efforts, the association is hosting a grassroots football tournament—themed the “Presidential Cup”—with the final match scheduled for December 6. He explained that the event aims to engage the public while showcasing the strong backing President Tinubu enjoys within Edo State’s business community.
