Abuja – The Defence Headquarters has named Rear Admiral Apochi Suleiman as the new Commander of the “Operation Delta Safe” in the Niger Delta.
A statement by Col. Kingsley Umoh on behalf of Acting Director, Defence Information, Brig.-Gen. Rabe Abubakar, on Friday in Abuja, said Suleiman replaced Rear Admiral Joseph Okojie who had been reassigned.

The statement said that the appointment was with immediate effect.
It stated that until his appointment, Suleiman was the Director, Development at the Defence Headquarters, adding that before that, he was the Flag Officer Commanding, Central Naval Command.
It explained that the change became necessary to “inject new capability to contain the prevailing security threats and provide the much needed stability in the region’’.
