Abuja – As the challenge for honours in the ongoing national sports festival, Abuja 2018 hots up,with major actors in the games raking in medals, Edo athletes have not disappointed as they so far won 7 Gold,8 Silver and 6 Bronze medals for their state.
The ObserverSports confirm that most of the medals came from Kungfu (Taolu), Parapower Lifting ,swimming and Judo as more were still expected as at Sunday noon when the above figures were made available.
The state Deputy Director, Research and Programme,Adeola Oboro Egonmwan said the state athletes have not disappointed as various head coaches have boasted of winning more gold medals for the state.
Edo, the heart beat of the nation is ranked among the major contenders in the games along with Delta,Rivers, Lagos and Ogun who have intimidating credentials in the country.
The participating states have about 40 games to compete as track and field actions just began.
