BENIN CITY- Edo State Deputy Governor, Rt. Hon. Comrade Philip Shaibu has accepted the provisional offer of admission into the Catholic Archdiocese of Benin’s ‘School of the Faith and Leadership’ to help propagate the virtues of the church and to serve as a positive role model to youths.

Shaibu who received brochures and manuals of the school on Mariology while being briefed on the school’s upcoming convocation ceremony in December this year, noted that the offer of admission was accepted, because there is no end to learning.

For an inquisitive mind like his, Shaibu stated that no one had the monopoly of gifts and knowledge as he, through this school, was on the path to conquer new terrains, which put on him the need to stoop low in his human relations, clarify and ask questions whenever in doubt.

He observed that family life was in tatters today because of the get rich syndrome, adding that the hour has come for role models to emerge from the church who wi impact on society and family life.

The offer to be a student at this school, despite his tight schedule, he opined, was an opportunity to gain more knowledge, to prove that, the time had come for society to build it’s manpower base through culture and skills acquisition.

Stating that the concept of Nigerian youths being unemployable was wrong, Sbaibu urged people to borrow and key into the Asian prototype where skills and manpower was being used to change the world.

He informed that the era of white collar jobs was gradually being phased out by the new focus on entrepreneurship which has helped at shaping the new mode of thinking and Knowledge.

On the flip side, Shaibu stated that humans were accountable to God, hence it was divine to propagate His word while on earth.

Members of the school who were led on the courtesy visit by Rev. Fr. (Dr.) Andrew Ovienloba said they came to associate with the Deputy Governor based on his, ” Manifestation of faith as a true Catholic, which has not been beclouded by neighbours and political relationship.”

The priest affirmed that the church was proud of having him relate with the world as a member of the priestly family which he belonged to as a Catholic.

The priest later administered apostolic blessings from the Archbishop of Benin, Most Rev. Dr. Augustine Akubeze on the Edo State Deputy Governor.

The Archdiocese of Benin City School of the Faith and Leadership is a Vatican accredited institute for theological and catechetical studies, focussing On the Laity to aid the mission of the church.

Its accreditation comes from the office of the congregation for Evangelization at the Vatican with validation from Anahuac University, Mexico.
