BENIN CITY – Barely a month after the death of one Pa Ajayi Igbineweka, members of the Eiye confraternity which he was a member are after his son, Monday Igbineweka who they alleged has violated the creed of the association.
Pa Igbineweka was killed in a land dispute in Akaba commmunity, following what was regarded as his role in several cult related killings.
Monday, by the creed is the designated successor of his father, a high ranking member of the confraternity who died December 1, 2013.
It was reliably gathered that Monday has been a close ally of his father, consequent of which he was privy to classified information on activities of the group, consequent of which his father anointed him as successor.
Things started to take a new twist for Monday when he turned down a proposal from the leadership of the confraternity for him to be initiated into the confraternity, a development that was seen as a taboo that must not be taken lightly.
This, it was gathered, prompted the confraternity through its network of members to probe into the past of Monday and his late father.
The findings, our source said, led to the discovery that they have been involved in extra judicial killings in the past.
As at press time, it could not be ascertained if the confraternity had made good its promise to formally report the activities of Monday and his late father to security agencies.
However, Monday is said to be on the run as it was gathered that the Police authorities are also on his trail over his alleged complicity in the death of some persons in recent.
