Suspected thugs ,who disrupted the Edo State 2007 gubernatorial election in Ugbogiobo in Ovia South-west local government area of the State killing two persons in one of the polling units,have again struck by killing a middle-aged man identified as Mr.Ogboro.

The alleged murder of Mr.Ogboro ,according to reports made available to the Nigerian Observer,was carried out by the thugs who were after one Ogboro Innocent ,son of the murdered middle-aged man in Ugbogiobo commmunity.

Recall that the April 14 2007 governorship election between Prof.Oserhiemen Osunbor of PDP Peoples Democratic Party and Adams Oshiomole of Action Congress AC ,was heavily marred by violence in across the entire State as some local government councils recorded extreme cases of violence leading to casualties.

In Ugbogiobo in one of the polling units,thugs in their numbers disrupted voting and reportedly killing two persons while injuring others .

It was gathered that the thugs immediately fled the polling unit after killing two persons,only to reappear at the polling unit as an eyewitness told the Nigerian Observer that the thugs recognized one Ogboro Innocent who was an agent at the polling unit during the attack.

The Nigerian Observer gathered that the thugs went after Ogboro Innocent who according to reports immediately fled the scene of murder as he was able to recognize some of the thugs.

The thugs,it was said,went after him by going to the family house where an middle-aged man believed to be his father was shot dead by the thugs who left behind a death threat letter saying “Innocent,we will kill you anytime ,anywhere to stop you from giving any information about us to the relevant authorities concerning the killings during the 2007 election in this community.”

Meanwhile,the Nigerian Observer reports that the outcome of the election in the community was declared inconclusive owing to the violence which characterized the election as some persons (the thugs) including the fleeing Ogboro Innocent have been declared wanted for their roles in the violence in the polling unit in the community.

The police in a statement made available to journalists said the fleeing Ogboro Innocent was instrumental in the investigation in unravelling the identities of some the thugs suspected to be Indigenes of the community and urged anyone with useful information that could lead to his(Ogboro Innocent) whereabouts or arrest to come forward as such information would be treated with utmost confidentiality.
