The Auchi Polytechnic Auchi says no fewer than 37,061 have graduated with National Diploma (ND) from the institution in the last four academic sessions.

The Rector of the polytechnic, Dr. Salisu Umar, said this at the 61st anniversary and combined 26th-29th National Diploma (ND) convocation ceremony of the institution held Thursday at the polytechnic new auditorium.

Dr. Umar said the graduands had passed the prescribed examinations and were judged worthy to receive their diploma certificates.

“I am glad to announce to you that for the last four academic sessions, we are turning out a total of 22,373 national diploma graduands for the regular programme while the School of Evening Studies has a total of 14,688 graduands,” Umar said.

While congratulating the graduands, he wished them well in their future endeavors, reminding them of their responsibilities of being good ambassadors to the polytechnic.

“I congratulate all of you, and I want you to know that your National Diploma certificate is not the end of your academic pursuit but the beginning of a new phase of scholarship and ultimately service to humanity.

“All the ideas and standards which were inculcated in you during your period of studentship must be put into practice. The training you have received is to enable you to fulfill God’s purpose in your lives as well as to be useful to your generations yet unborn.

“I believe that you will be good ambassadors of your alma mater wherever you find yourselves”, the Rector said.

Earlier, the chairman, Governing Council of the polytechnic, Professor Jonathan Ayuba, urged the graduands to take advantage of the national skills qualifications framework that had been launched by the National Board for Technical Education (NBTE).

“It is encouraging to note that Auchi Polytechnic is one of the training and certification centres in the South South geopolitical zone. The centre for innovation and skills acquisition to train learners in relevant skills that would be beneficial to them and the nation at large,” he said.

Ayuba congratulated the Rector on his first convocation since he assumed office in February 2022.

He, however, encouraged him to continue to create an environment conducive for learning and to relentlessly pursue the realisation of the ideal of skills acquisition complementing certification.
