Fire ignited by petroleum product has razed down a building killing one girl and two children of the landlord, Mr. Aigbe Uzi, in the process, just as a man, Identified as Victor John, has been reportedly killed by angry mobs who were revenging the death of the three persons and the burning of the building by the petroleum product allegedly kept by his son, Victor Christ, who is also a tenant in the building
An eye witness who gave detailed accounts of what transpired, Mrs. Glory Ukuna, said that she is a neighbour in the locality and that the said Victor and his wife had lived in the building for more than seven years and that the unfortunate incident which happened on December 20th 2016, was not a deliberate ploy by him (Victor Christ) to burn down the landlord’s house, let alone killing the two children and other through the inferno.
She noted that the fire gutted the building by the 4 litres of petrol brought by Victor Christ, a commercial motor driver, while he was away to his village, Urhonigbe in Orhionmwon Local Government Area of Edo State where he had gone to see his wife who gave birth to a baby boy on December 1st 2016.
The source further said that Victor Christ, who kept the jerry can containing the fuel close to the bathroom went to buy food to eat when the news of burning house filtered to him as the occupants were wailing over the incident, as soon as he was hurrying back to the house, some mobs who were putting off the fire attacked him with sophisticated weapons like sticks, broken bottles and knives to the extent of sustaining degrees of injuries on his body and fainted.
She said that thinking he was dead, the mobs abandoned to him to his pool of blood and that he took the timely intervention of a good Samaritan who was passing by to rescue him back to his (good Samaritan) village in Ugo, Orhionwmon Local Government Area, where he later regained consciousness on December 24 2016, adding that the curious Good Samaritan called David Oke, asked if he (Victor Christ) could call anybody to know how fire gutted the building, it was on that premise a reliable source who was called then said that his co-tenant in the house, a son to a serving military officer, who was using lantern to look for his lost slippers suddenly ignited the fire, which burnt a girl and two children of the landlord, stressing that in revenging the tragedy that befell the Landlord, some miscreants who took advantage of what happened went to the house of the father of Victor Christ, Victor John, who wanted to take custody of his son from where he was regaining himself after the attack and trauma associated with the incident on December 25 2016 at about 10pm and destroyed his building and then killed him in replacement of his son, who, they said was their main target.
She explained that the said Victor Christ and his good samaritan got the news of the death of his father after a neighbor opposite his house called his son (Victor Christ) to inform him of what happened and that the hoodlums were still boasting to also kill him even though they had killed his father, and it was on that premise he escaped since the police cannot protect him and coupled with the fact that he has been declared wanted to enable him face the wrath of the law.
