Victor Boniface, Super Eagles, and Bayer Leverkusen striker, has been handed a one-match suspension by the German Football Federation for unsportsmanlike conduct.
The suspension follows an incident after Bayer Leverkusen’s victory over Stuttgart in the German Super Cup, where Boniface was involved in a controversial gesture towards Stuttgart players and was fined €23,000.
Boniface will miss Bayer Leverkusen’s next German Cup match but will return for their opening game against Borussia Mönchengladbach on Friday.
Since joining Bayer Leverkusen last summer, the 23-year-old has scored 14 goals, contributing significantly to their historic Bundesliga title win.
