The traditional ruler of Ogbogoro community in Obio/Akpor Council of Rivers, Chief Anele Oriebe, has urged politicians to embark on issue-based campaigns ahead of the February elections.
Oriebe gave the advise at Ogbogoro, Obio/Akpor council of Rivers when Mr. Tony Okocha, the All Progressives Congress (APC) candidate for Obio/Akpor constituency of the House of Representatives paid him a courtesy visit.
‘’ My candid advise to politicians is that they should avoid thuggery, violence and instead, embark on issue-based campaigns.
‘’ I believe this is the way forward for our politics, so that Nigerians will know what the politicians have for them,’’ he said.
The traditional ruler also decried the attitude whereby bill boards and posters of candidates were being damaged, saying that such acts were not good for the nation’s democracy.
Mr. Chikodi Dike, former Caretaker Committee Chairman of Obio/Akpor council, urged Ogbogoro people to vote for the APC to enjoy democracy dividends.
‘’ A vote for the APC and all its candidates will bring positive things for our people.
‘’ Our son, Tony Okocha, will ensure robust representation of Obio/Akpor in the National Assembly.
‘’ He is an achiever and needs to be at the National Assembly to bring democracy dividends to our people,’’ he said.
In his speech, Okocha said he would give Obio/Akpor effective representation at the National Assembly, if elected.
He urged the people of the constituency to vote for all APC candidates in the elections.
