pvcYENAGOA – The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) in Bayelsa, has distributed over 70 per cent of the permanent voter cards available for collection, the state Resident Electoral Commissioner has said.
The commissioner, Mr Barito Kaphagih, who spoke in an interview with newsmen in Yenagoa, said the distribution was still going on in the various wards.
“So far so good, we have distributed over 70 per cent of the cards in the state; the issuance of the cards have been taken to the various wards to ensure that the people get their PVCs.
“We know the terrain of Bayelsa and we do not want a situation that people will complain about the card not reaching them, so, we took it to the ward level.
“Why we took it to the ward is because the people in the creeks may not have the means to check the local government headquarters, so, the distribution is on-going in all the wards,” Kaphagih said.
It will be recalled that about 60,000 PVCs were awaiting collection by registered voters in the state.
