WARRI -The Assistant  Corps Marshal  (ACM) zone 5,  of the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC)  , Kehinde Adeleye on Wednesday  cautioned road users on the need to adhere strictly to road safety  rules, especially  as the end of the year  approaches.

ACM Kehinde  Adeleye stated this in Warri  while speaking to  newsmen during one of his familiarization tour around sectors under his command, that the agency is still trying to sensitize commercial vehicle owners on the need to install the speed limit device adding that full enforcement of the installation of speed limit devices by commercial vehicles in the country will start early 2017, just as they appeal to commercial vehicles to install the devices before next year.

Adeleye who said that his mission in Delta State was to meet with stakeholders, especially the Special Marshals, to discuss on the way forward on how to prevent road accident this “Ember” months, noted that the agency is still giving commercial owners more time to install the speed limit devices in their vehicles because it has a human face.

He said, “Full implementation will take effect as from 2017. I am not in the position to tell you the date it will start. What we are doing now is advocacy, subtle enforcement, advice and enlightenment on the need to have the device installed.”

On activities of FRSC, Adeleye noted the agency has gone through serious of reformation geared towards ensuring the safety of lives in the highways in the country, adding that each year, FRSC concentrates on few of its core mandate and pay more attention to them to ensure that the roads are accident free

On fake driver’s licence,  Adeleye warned those issuing fake driver’s license to unsuspecting victims in the country that the long arm of the law will soon catch up with them, adding that the agency is doing all it can to curtail the activities of those engaged in the nefarious activities.

He specifically said that anyone caught issuing fake licenses to members of the public will be dealt with and prosecuted accordingly, but warned the general public to stop engaging the services of touts when they want to process their driver’s licenses.

“In an attempt to procure drivers licenses through the back door, many people fall victim of touts which they later regret. I can tell you that we are in synergy with various security agencies. The DSS, National Identity Management Committee are involved and we are all trying to identify the people behind the issuance of fake driver’s licenses.

Also addressing newsmen, the Delta State  Coordinator, Special Marshal, Federal Road Safety Corps, Mr. Dickson Amromahwe said  the Delta State Command in conjunction with  other stakeholders  will  mobilize to Asaba and other parts of the zone to ensure that there is decongestion of traffic and safety of road users.
