Obaseki, EDSOGPADEC Purchase Armoured Gun Boats

BENIN CITY – IN a bid to make Edo State a safe haven for the people and investors, the Executive Governor, His Excellency Governor Godwin Obaseki in collaboration with the Edo State Oil and Gas Producing Area Development Commission, EDSOGPADEC, have recently purchased a high-profile Armoured Gun and Speed Boats to cushion the negative effects of crime and criminal activities which had ravaged the water ways in the state.

It would be recalled that four speed and four armoured gun boats were purchased to boost the State Security architecture tagged “Wabazigan” for the purposes of securing the water ways in the state.

Speaking with Journalists immediately after the delivery of the speed and armoured gun boats, the Executive Chairman of the EDSOGPADEC Board, Pastor Kennedy Osifo, said that the Governor’s desires to create a peaceful but rancour-free atmosphere to boost the economy of the state, influenced the purchase of these boats.

He further said that to also complement the efforts of the governor in curbing crime and criminal activities, his board had built Marine Posts at Gelegele, in Ovia North East Local Government and Ologbo, in Ikpoba Okha Local Government Area of the State, to fight Pirates in the water ways.

Osifo, who spoke on behalf of the board members, maintained that the achievements of Governor Obaseki in the state for the past four years, would give him the chance of coming back after September 19, 2020 governorship election to enable him consolidate on these achievements, saying Governor Obaseki is a silent achiever, whose legacies in the private sectors had promoted good governance in the state.

He however, urged the Edo people, to support the second term bid of the governor, stressing he has brought respites to the common man which needed to be sustained.
