BENIN CITY – Edo State indigenes in Leeds, United Kingdom have expressed their support for the second term bid of Governor Goodwin Obaseki and his deputy, Rt Hon Comrade Philip Shaibu.

Spokesperson for the Edo indigenes, Osahon Ogieva also expressed their readiness to join hands with all well meaning people of the state to support continuity of the present government in the state.

At a press briefing transmitted to The Nigerian OBSERVER in Benin City, Ogieva identified youth empowerment and employment strategy of the Governor Godwin Obaseki’s led government as issues of particular interest to them.

According to him, working in collaboration with the private sector, the Obaseki led government has brought worthwhile investment and development to Edo State.

He noted that accountability, integrity, transparency in governance, prompt payment of salaries and pension, basic infrastructural development, as well as improvement in the education sector received priority attention from the government.

While urging Governor Obaseki to use his second tenure to consolidate on the achievement of his first tenure, he also asked him to give greater attention to the issue of security in order for them to have confidence to invest in the state.

“Edo indigenes in diaspora will coordinate to pursue through legal means and hold all those who perpetrate violence accountable, no matter how long it takes.

“Our beloved ones are therefore urged to document evidence of these individuals and collaborators and provide such to our body to enable us bring justice to them within and outside Nigeria at the appropriate time,” he added.

A leader in the group and one time Press Secretary to Uhunmwode Local Government Council, Mr Nosa Adun said that Mr Obaseki and Comrade Shaibu have become a global brand in the politics of of the State due to their unique and transparent leadership style.

According to him, the brand is greater than what he has experienced in his political life.

He assured that the Edo indigenes would mobilise their relations and friends in the state to vote enmasse for the re-election of Mr. Obaseki and Comrade Shaibu.
