Benin – The Network for the Advancement of Persons with Visable Disability (NAPVID) on Monday donated learning materials to pupils of the School for Physically Challenged Persons, and special students of Ihogbe College in Benin city.

The educational materials include note books, pencils, crayons, magnetic alphabets and numbers, colour marker, cardboard paper, building blocks, football, flash cards and a Signboard to the school for Physically Challenged Children at Ikpoba hill.

At Ihogbe College, NAPVID donated pen, mathematical set, note books, branded bags, braille and typing sheets to special needs students of the institution.

Speaking during the presentations, NAPVID executive director, Barr. Melody Omosah charged the beneficiaries to be focus on their studies, adding, only education can conquer every form of disability.

Omosah maintained that NAPVID will sustain it collaboration with Edo state government to support special persons with scholarships to further their education to any level.

“They should give all that they have to education. You need to work twice as hard than the regular students, so that you will be able to earn a good life for yourself. Become very productive, and become useful member of society;

“people would look up to you for solutions, for suggestions that would move society forward. At that point no one would remember that you are one with a disability”, Omosah remarked

On her part, chairman of the state Universal Basic Education Board (SUBEB), Joan Oviave expressed appreciation to NAPVID for the continued partnership, saying “government alone can not do everything.”

Edo SUBEB chairman, represented at the occasion by Mrs Anita Obasuyi commended the teachers for their efforts towards imparting in the special pupils.

The recipients and heads of the institutions who could not hide their joy thanked NAPVID for reaching out to enhance learning in their special schools.
