An aspirant, Mr.Jafaru Sumaina have declared his intentions to contest for the chairmanship position comes 2023 local government elections under the platform of People’s Democratic Party (PDP) in Etsako West Local Government Area of Edo State.

Sumaina, who is the PDP Etssko West LGA secretary made the declaration during a meeting with LGA executives and Ward executives at the party secretariat in Auchi, Edo

Sumaina said he would return the local government to a better position if he emerged the candidate of the party and wins the chairmanship election.

The Edo State Independent Electoral Commission had recently fixed Jan. 19, 2023 for the local government election for the offices of the Chairmen and councilors for the 18 Local Government Councils in Edo State.

“Today, I have come to present myself to the leadership of PDP in Etsako West that your son who has been with you has declare to contest for the chairmanship of Etsako West local government and I am here for your support.

“My dear good people of Etsako West, I feel highly privileged and to stand before you all today to publicly declare my intention to serve you as chief steward of Etsako local government area in 2023,” he said.

The chairmanship aspirant said that his administration would lay emphasis on the agriculture sector, stating that ”agriculture is the engine room for the survival of every nation’s economic growth and the largest employer.

“I will commit the highest priority to agricultural growth, increase in farmer’s income and rural development.

“We have an economic plan for Etsako West, a plan to help small businesses grow and create jobs opportunity.

“Small and medium enterprises employ almost half of the national workforce, by unshackling the SMEs sector we will unleash the potential of small businesses to grow and create more jobs,” he said.

Responding, the Chairman of PDP Etsako West, Mr Vassal Momodu said Sumaina is the first aspirant to declare his intention and wish him well in his future ambition for the chairmanship position.

“We receive you wholeheartedly, as a loyal dedicated PDP member and LGA executive, we wish you all the best in the forthcoming party primaries and election come 2023,” he said.
