PORT HARCOURT, RIVERS- The authorities of the Nigerian Army and Nigerian Police have on the 20th September declared one Irabor Esther, a sales girl, in the food canteen department of the Royal Hotel and Suites, Port Harcourt, Rivers State, following her alleged involvement in the death of an army officer, who was said to have lodged in the hotel as at the time the incident happened.
An eye witness, who gave detailed account of what happened but failed to disclose his identity said that the said Irabor Esther, has been working in the hotel as a sales girl in charge of canteen and that when the army officer, name withheld, came to lodge in the hotel, he ordered for food to be served on him.
The source, added that while the sales girl entered into the apartment to serve the army officer, food, the army officer, who was not comfortable with the dress mode of the sales girl, attempted to rape her and while she (Irabor Esther) resisted him (army officer), as they were both dragging, she fell on a riffle gun kept on top of the table and as she tried to hold the riffle so that it could not fall down, the gun exploded and killed the army officer.
The source, added that the noise from the exploded riffle drew the attention of other workers in the hotel as well as those who lodged as they rushed to the apartment and discovered the army officer on his pool of blood.
The source maintained that as the manager tried to inform the police about the incident possibly to exonerate his worker in the alleged complicit and before the arrival of the police, the sales girl, Irabor Esther, has escaped and the friends of the late army officer, who got the wind of the death of their colleague, mobilised their squad and threatened to kill every body seen in the process.
He pointed out that though the police were able to foil the plans of the army officers who invaded the hotel by smartly told them of their (police) plans to fish the perpetrator out.
The source said that it was at that point the police started investigation into the matter to unravel the circumstances leading to the killing of the army officer and based on that, the police and army have declared Irabor Esther wanted.
