BENIN CITY-The Police in Edo have declared wanted one Ugiagbe Uyi for allegedly practicing homosexuality in Benin City.

Uyi was also accused of the murder of his gay partner, one Imasun Nicholas in the state capital.

The police stated this in a statement signed by the acting spokesman for Edo Command DSP Uwoh Noble and made available to our reporter in Benin City, yesterday.

The police release added that Uyi stabbed his gay lover Imasun on November 1st, 2014 during an argument.

It said Uyi was about to be lynched by angry mob when a team of policemen on routine patrol along Erediawu street, off Sapele road, Benin City, rescued him and his wounded ‘lover’ to the Central hospital in the state capital about 3pm that fateful day.

The statement explained that fleeing suspect who was also being treated at the hospital for varying degrees of bruises he sustained in the mop attack, escaped eight days after his wounded gay partner died of complications as result of the stabbing.

According to the police statement, “the suspect Ugiagbe Uyi, (M), 26 years old is dark in complexion, about five feet tall, speaks Edo and English languages fluently”.

It required anyone with information that would lead to the immediate arrest of Uyi to contact the nearest police station or the state police command headquarters, Benin City.
