BOKKOS (PLATEAU) – The students of Solomon Lar University, Bokkos, Plateau, have been charged to be disciplined and avoid all forms of societal vices in order to achieve academic excellence.
Prof Rauta Jat, Dean, Faculty of Management Sciences, gave the charge at a one day orientation course for newly admitted students of the Department of Accountancy in Bokkos.
Jat said, “negative tendencies are barriers and hindrances to academic excellence. Therefore, imbibe qualities that will earn you respect to bring positive impact in the society.
“As new students in this institution, avoid all forms of vices and be focused, consistent and hard working for academic excellence.
“Hard drugs and violence destroy easily, but discipline and hard work lead to respect and greatness’’, she said.
The dean said as leaders of tomorrow; the students must be disciplined and obedient to constituted authorities of the institution and the nation to propel themselves to greater heights.
Mr. Dawan Andrew, President, Nigeria University Accounting Students Association, Solomon Lar University Branch, described the event as “timely and the first of its kind“ in any department of the university.
Andrew commended the dean for the initiative and expressed the hope that the students would key into the programmes of the institution aimed at achieving quality academic performance.
