Idogbo – The transition Chairman of Ikpoba Okha Local Government Area of Edo State, Hon. Osakpawan Ekpeti has appealed for fresh security reinforcement in the area following the communal land disputes between Okha and Uho village that resulted in the loss of lives and properties in Ikpoba Okha.
Hon Ekpeti condemned the killings of innocent citizen and destruction of properties which has lingered on for more than three months.
While addressing the press on the outcome of bloody clash between Okha and Uho, the Chairman vowed that no effort would be spared to identify and bring the perpetrators of the dastardly acts to face justice
He however, commended the prompt response and efforts of the Edo State Government and other security agencies in containing the situation and restoring peace back to the waring villages.
He added that the government will not relent and be deterred in pursuit of securing the lives and properties of all indigenes of the local government everywhere and every part and also will ensure that there will be justices for all the victims and all those affected by the clashes.
He also commiserated with families of the victims, the people of the local government and wished the injured speedy recovery.
It will be recalled that no fewer than 50 persons were reported killed and scores injured, properties burnt and destroyed which have been going on now for more than 2 months, following the land dispute between Okha and Uho villages in Ikpoba Okha Local Government Area of Edo State. The perpetrators which are mostly youths from Okha and Uho are however on the run for fear of being arrested and persecuted and sent to jail.
