The North African has been one of the Premier League’s top performers in 2015/16, scoring 13 goals and contributing with seven assists.
Mahrez demonstrated his form on Saturday by scoring two goals in the Foxes’ 3-2 win away to Everton which ensured they will be top of the log at Christmas.
Le 10 Sport reports that the Red Devils will lodge a £29-million bid for the Algerian winger ahead of the January transfer window.
Manager Louis van Gaal is desperate to bring attacking reinforcements to Old Trafford as a result of the likes of Wayne Rooney and Anthony Martial struggling in front of goal this campaign.
However, Leicester have already stated that they will rebuff any offers for Mahrez or leading goal scorer Jamie Vardy in the imminent window.
