Bwari (FCT) – The Resident Pastor, Living Faith Church, Bwari, Pastor Isaac Abioye, has advised Christians to fast and pray always to attract God’s blessings.

Abioye gave the advice in a sermon with the topic: “Understanding the Blessedness of Fasting and Prayer’’, which he delivered at a ceremony to mark the first Sunday service of the year.

The sermon was the first in the series of teachings for the month of January on the theme: “Prayer and Fasting Facilitates Fulfilment of Prophecy’’.

He said that prayer and fasting was a divine instruction designed to enable Christians to profit in their endeavours by living a holy life.

“Prayer is the meeting point between God and man; regular engagement in fasting facilitates answers to prayers.

“Prayer and fasting are commandments from God and ordained for us to profit; it is always organised to help us break every barrier in life.

“Every early phase of life often comes with diverse challenges.

“Therefore, there is the need to always fast and pray to God to receive divine strength needed to overcome obstacles throughout the year.’’

He advised the worshippers not to be deterred by the economic challenges that characterised the previous year.

He urged them to trust in God all the time and to engage in spiritual exercises to enable them to live a righteously.

“When you practice the word of God and make it your lifestyle, it will become easy for you to fulfil your divine purpose in life.

“It is only through such means that one can derive benefits; when you do what God commands to be done, you compel Him to fulfil divine promises.’’

He reminded the congregation of the church’s forthcoming annual 21-day prayer and fasting, which will begin on Jan. 11 and end on Jan. 31.

According to him, participating in the programme will help them grow spiritually.
