Edo State Police Command has commenced investigation into the sudden death of two brothers after inhaling gaseous fumes from a generating set placed close to their apartment while declaring two others wanted.
Confirmed report revealed that the two brothers died while asleep from exposure to gaseous fumes from a generating set in a residential building close to a barber shop in Idijie community in Esan North-East Local Government Area of Edo state.
The deceased brothers are Okpia Omoike, 17 and Samuel Omoike, 13 years of age respectively.
The two runaway suspects in the case are Felix Ojo, operator of the Barber shop and his apprentice, Humphrey Harry, 15 years of age.
According to a police statement made available to The NIGERIAN OBSERVER, the deceased children of Omoike Wilson,62 years of age, father of the two brothers, were asleep in their apartment when tragedy struck on November 20th,2015.
It was gathered that Humphrey Harry placed the generating set close to the apartment of the deceased children while he needed to attend to customers who came for a hair cut.
According to information made available to the Nigerian Observer, choking gaseous fumes from the generating set was freely released into the entire atmosphere invariably leading to the cause of deaths in the compound.
Confirmed reports also revealed that the a make-shift store belonging to Felix Ojo was where he operated his barber shop close the building where the two brothers were discovered unconscious.
The building, it gathered, was poorly ventilated enough to allow for complete exchange of gaseous atmospheric materials in the building.
An eyewitness who pleaded anonymity said the two children who were discovered to be unconscious as they were fast asleep in their apartment were immediately rushed by sympathizers, Police officers and their father to a nearby hospital where they were confirmed dead.
Outrage and violence followed the news confirming the sudden death of the two brothers as angry mob in the community in Uromi went to the house of Felix Ojo burnt down his house.
The Nigerian Observer gathered that the angry mob went after Felix Ojo and his apprentice, Humphrey Harry who both had already absconded from the community.
Meanwhile, the police in a statement said while it had managed to restore peace in the community that had been thrown into mourning for days following the death of the deceased brothers, efforts have been intensified to arrest and prosecute both the operator of the barber shop, Felix Ojo and his apprentice ,Humphrey Harry whose whereabouts remain unknown.
