AGBOR: The Fate of a young man,Kingsley Nwokoro who was accused of complicity in the death of his girlfriend continues to hang in danger despite plea by his family that he is innocent of the crime.
Narrating the incident and their continuous ordeal since February 2014 when the girl, Miss Nneka Nwabueze was found dead in their family house in Agbor,Delta State, the younger sister to the suspect, Miss Josephine Nwokoro said the deceased’s father, Mr Paul Nwabueze had made life unbearable for the Nwokoro family for nearly two years running.
” He continues to torment us , vowing to eliminate Kingsley by all means”,she stated in an emotion laden voice . with tears running down her face.
She told The NIGERIAN OBSERVER that her brother, Kingsley met the deceased sometimes in 2013 and they both started dating in early 2014.
“On 14th February 2014, she visited my elder brother at our family home in Agbor , Delta state. They went out and returned home very late that night and they both slept in the same room.
“The next day my elder brother, Kingsley left very early to farm. My mum later went to his room where he and the girl slept in order to wake her up and discovered that she wasn’t breathing. She immediately raised an alarm and the girl (Nneka) was rushed to the Central Hospital Agbor, where she was unfortunately confirmed dead.
“Because we knew little about her, they had to search her phone for possible contacts. They got her father’s contact and broke the sad news to him. This was the beginning of our family’s ordeal as he sounded very angry on the phone and threatened to kill my brother if we don’t provide his daughter alive.
” Few hours later, he ( Mr Nwabueze) arrived our home with some hoodlums believed to be members of a cult group apparently to kill my elder brother. They were armed with battle axe and other dangerous weapons. Fortunately, my elder brother was not at home at that moment; so they threatened , harassed and tortured me and my mother even as we cried that my brother was not responsible for the girl’s death.
“They later left with a warning to come back, vowing that my brother must pay with his life for the death of Miss Nwabueze. Some persons who were sympathetic to my brother quickly alerted him of the event and the threats by Mr Nwabueze and his boys. He was advised to go into hiding as the girl’s father is a leader of the pro- Biafra group , the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB); a militant group agitating for the sovereign State of Biafra while two of his sons are known members of a dreaded cult group (Aiye Confraternity).
“Inspite of the fact that my mother and I have relocated to the village, the group of cultists have continued to trail our family in search of my brother. We are living daily in fears even as the fate of my elder brother hangs precariously . We are afraid to go the police because they would demand huge money from us which we don’t have “, Josephine Nwokoro narrated further.
However In a telephone interview with our reporter, Mr Nwabueze stated that his grouse with the Nwokoro family stems from the fact that their son, Kingsley was in a relationship with his daughter which he disapproved.
Mr Nwabueze said he suspected that his daughter was pregnant and may have died while attempting to abort the pregnancy. He however admitted that his daughter was an asthmatic patient before her demise.
”
There is something suspicious surrounding my daughter’s death and her so-called boyfriend, Kingsley cannot be exonerated from it “, he barked relentlessly on the phone.
