BENIN CITY – The Executive Chairman of the Edo State Internal Revenue Service (EIRS), Chief (Sir) Oseni Elamah has lamented that the unemployed youths in the society were groaning under excruciating economic depression.

Chief Elamah stated this when he played host to some youths under the aegis of Edo Must Work Initiative (EMWI) in his office in Benin City.

The EIRS boss who was represented by the agency’s Executive Director, Tax Enforcement, Barr. Emmanuel Usoh noted that with the economic reality, it was no longer necessary to continue to depend on the federation account before development can strive in the society.

He observed that the people also contributed in creating the kind of environment and leadership in the past calling on them to take destiny in their hands by deciding the choice that will govern the state after the next governorship election in the state.

While asserting that the issue of poverty cuts across board the revenue boss stated that the only way to fight the epidemic is for the people to ensure credible leadership that would make Edo State a limelight in the country.

The Coordinator- General of the Edo Must Work Initiative, Comrade Osasere Ferdinand had said that his organization was committed towards ensuring governance.

He said that EMWI deemed it necessary to familiarize with individuals who have made indelible marks in terms of contributions to the development of the society, hence the visit.

Comrade Ferdinand noted that the gubernatorial election was around the corner, hence the need to ensuring adequate sensitization of the people.

He stated further that the organization which is a non-partisan group is committed to ensuring that candidate with positive focus and vision for the progress and growth of the state are allowed to govern the people, irrespective of political division.

While underscoring the monumental achievement of Chief Elamah in the revenue sector, Ferdinand admonished the youths not to take up arms, rather, engage their minds positively.

He cited money and thugery as the bane of electoral fairness declaring that his group would embark on massive education of the people, especially the traders
