IKPOBA-OKHA- It was dark moment for the people of Upper Sokponba Road in Benin City, Edo State as tragedy struck, resulting in the death of a middle aged man, simply identified as Idemudia Monday.

It was gathered by The NIGERIAN OBSERVER that the deceased (Monday) and his co-worker, one Ohenhen Douglas now on the run were working in an uncompleted building on March 1, 2016, when argument broke out between them.

It was further gathered that Douglas who is into installation of Aluminum Roofing Sheets was in the site with his co-worker (the deceased) when they suddenly started quarreling, raising voices at each other and resulting to serious argument between Monday and Douglas.

It was scooped that Douglas who was angered by the quarrel, was said to had slapped Monday and the resultant fall of the deceased (Monday) from the one storey building.

An eyewitness, one Osarobo who spoke to our Crime Correspondent said the late Monday lost balance after the slap and incidentally fell down from the roof of the building.

He said they immediately contacted an ambulance services, adding that the late Monday gave up the ghost on the way to the hospital.

The incidence threw the area into pandemonium as residents who thronged the scene were seen weeping over the sad incidence.

Douglas could not be found as at press time, as he was said to have ran for his dear life, apparently for fear of being killed by the irked sympertisers.

The situation according to sources worsen following the involvement of a suspected cult group, popularly known as Black Axe group who in their alleged desperate search for Douglas stormed his house but met Douglas’s younger brother, one Austin Ohenhen who they (cultists) waylaid and unleashed terror on him (Austin) and his currently receiving treatment in an undisclosed hospital in Benin City.

Osarobo disclosed further that the owner of the site (uncompleted building where Douglas and Monday were working) hurriedly informed the police following the sudden disappearance of Douglas from the site.

Efforts to contact members of Douglas’s family failed as they were reported to have fled to unknown destination following the attack and destruction of their family house by the suspected Black Axe members.

Meanwhile, the deceased brothers, suspected by many to be members of the dreaded cult group have allegedly handed a manhunt for Douglas in view of apprehending and killing him in order to avenge the death of their brother Monday.

Contacted for comment, the Edo State Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), DSP Steven Unwuchie while confirming the incident said that one of the suspected Black Axe members have been arrested in connection with the incidence.

He, however, appealed to members of the public to give useful information to the police that would lead to the arrest of the fleeing Ohenhen Douglas, adding that handsome rewards awaits such informant.
