BENIN CITY – Suspected cultists, allegedly loyal to a faction in the recurring leadership tussle in Aruogba community,Oredo Local Government Area,Edo State have unleashed violence on one Osabuohien Festus, a committee chairman of the Community’s Development Association.
The attack, it was gathered, is not unconnected with the November 2014 Aruogba Community Development Association(CDA) leadership tussle that led to the death of the youth chairman and the beheading of the community leader,Pa Uwumahongie at Irihiri community,where he ran to seek refuge.while the entire community was deserted.
It was gathered that Festus,who went to seek refuge in Benin City,few kilometres away from Aruogba was allegedly attacked in his hide out by thugs loyal to the other faction in February 2015.While he luckily escape the onslaught,his wife was killed.Several people in the community that were displaced by the violence including Festus’s two children,whose whereabouts are still unknown
It was also gathered that,after the attack,he fled to Abuja for safety In March,2016, Festus Osabuohien was a target for another assassination,as he was trailed to his Gwagwalada residence in Abuja where he received gunshot wounds
The thugs were also said to have openly threatened to continue their onslaught until Festus is eliminated.They have vowed to kill him whenever and wherever they see him,as he is a seen as a strong supporter of the late CDA youth chairman,and a stumbling block to the aspirations of the other factional chairman.
Osabuohien Festus has fled for his life as these people are hell bent on killing him.
Since the incident in 2014,the community is still deserted as bad blood still exist amongst the people.There are still cases of killings and abduction of people in the community,making several of the indigenes to run for their lives
