BENIN CITY-Operatives of Edo State Police Command have paraded 50 suspected cultists, 11 kidnappers and 14 armed robbers in Benin City.
The 75 suspects said to have been apprehended at various locations across the state were paraded before journalists at the state police command headquarters in Benin City, yesterday.
Six and 11 cut-to-size locally made pistols and barrels, 17 live cartridges, ATM cards, one Toyota Camry, one Dell laptop computer, one Techno phone, N100, 000.00 cash and items suspected to be secret cult paraphernalia were among exhibits paraded with the suspects.
Among the suspects were one Okafor Emmanuel, 25, Amodu Endurance, 25 Ehimole Raymond, 28 and Uduejie Ehijie, 32 alleged to have been nabbed during loot sharing.
A quarrel was said to have ensued among them while sharing their loot after they had earlier robbed a shop at gunpoint and carted away electronics.
The Commissioner of police in Edo State Mr Chris Ezike disclosed that those paraded were suspected members of vickings, Marphites, Black-axe, Eiye, Warlord, Akus, Jurist and TZ confraternities.
Mr Ezike said that Stanley Benson, 20, Dennis Aghidi, 22, Stephen Abulimen, 29, Obinwa Ngwu, 20, Odili John Ofure, 26, Iruafemi Godfrey, 25 and Iyoha Eromosele, 29 were apprehended at Ekpoma town by operatives of the Anti-Cult Unit of the police command.
One Paul Zubair, John Archibong, Charles Arasomwan, 22, Jezreel Ekanem,21, Mbindi Nnaka, 26 and Jeffrey Erase, 32 were among the suspected kidnappers paraded by the police boss.
Mr Chris Ezike however appealed to parents, community, traditional and religious leaders as well as other stakeholders in the war against crime and criminality to intensify their synergy with the police.
