BENIN CITY – The Edo House of Assembly in Benin has recently lifted the suspension placed on the impeached speaker, Victor Edoror representing (APC Esan Central).
Sixteen members of the Edo House of assembly on May 3, 2016 during plenary impeached the Speaker of the house, Victor Edoror for high-handedness, dictatorial tendencies and financial recklessness.
Edoror was subsequently suspended for three months for invading the hallowed chambers with thugs after his impeachment.
The Speaker, Mrs Elizabeth Ativie, made the announcement during plenary on Monday in Benin.
Ativie said ” In the spirit of reconciliation we hereby lift the suspension placed on the former Speaker, Victor Edoror. He is by the announcement welcome back to the house,” Ativie said.
Also at plenary, the house elected members of the Principal Officers Council (POC).
The position of the Majority leader went to Mr Foly Ogedengbe ( APC Owan East), the Chief Whip went to Mr Kabiru Adjoto (APC Akoko-Edo 1), Deputy house Leader, Mr Henry Okhuorobo (APC Ikpoba Okha) and the Minority leader went to Mr Patrick Iluobe (PDP Esan North East 1).
